Where you fit
The Automation Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager East downstream, licensing projects & Third-party Asset support and will be part of the central Projects & Technology Organization based in Shell Technology Centre Bangalore.

To lead and engage with other engineers from Projects & Technology, Shell operating companies, joint ventures, and strategic 3P customers to maximize value delivered.
To deliver value for Shell through participation in industry, academia, standards consortia, and other forums.
To actively pursue global alignment (IOGP, JIP etc) and standardization with other regions and disciplines.
To actively collaborate and share knowledge effectively across the Shell enterprise.
To actively pursue Projects and Technology organization vision in project and asset support and leverage technology to support bottom line of the company.
You further accountabilities as the Automation Engineer are:
Engagement with the asset(s) to provide visible and felt support.
Serve (if needed) as focal point for (DCS/IPS/FGS).
Support projects and Assets by providing required technical assurance during design, execution and operation/maintenance.
Actively share and replicate best practices.
Actively participate in functional and discipline networks.
Provide technical review and recommendation for peers
Ensures plant safety, integrity and reliability through development, implementation and improvement of specific field instrumentation Engineering Standards that are based on applicable international standards and statutory requirements.
Maintain strong contacts with customer base in the East - instead: maintains strong contact with Shell owned assets, JV Partners and strategic Third-party customers in the east.
Provide troubleshooting, and technical support for Automation systems.
Design, specify, deploy, and sustain base Automation systems on major DCS platforms.
Coordinate the Asset Integrity initiative programs in the East.
Gatekeep/monitor Automation technology developments, contribute to Innovation, Research & Development and Technology Replication Thrust (TRT) space
Provide support to existing facilities including Identifying reliability and operability risks and determining cost effective mitigation Technology specification and prequalification Shutdown and start-up operational support.
What we need from you
Bachelors or master’s degree in Instrumentation and control engineering with 8-15 years of relevant design, maintenance, field experience in oil & gas / Energy sector.
Candidate should preferably have experience in control system (DCS/PAS/ICSS/FGS/IPS) design and implementation for upstream, midstream and downstream facilities along with some hands-on field experience.
Preference will be given to candidate having good knowledge of field instrumentation design and maintenance, process safety and experience on SIF classification, design, implementation, & Asset integrity, Custody metering, Fire and Gas devices and mapping, Gas Chromatograph (GC) design and implementation, PCD-IT security.
Additionally, the candidate must be proficient in:
