Role Summary/Purpose
The Technical Field Advisor IV (TFA) provides on-site technical direction to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants for their Turbine Generator Systems. Responsible for reviewing plant engineering documents and P&ID’s, troubleshooting of plant systems and equipment, planning, organizing, integrating and direction of resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements. The primary responsibility of the TFA IV is to safely accomplish the maintenance and repair of the various equipment used in power generation applications. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our Steam Power vision and align with our organization’s core values.
Essential Responsibilities
· Fulfill contract responsibilities for designated and qualified skill set (Turbine Mechanical, Generator, Electrical, Controls, Excitation, Boiler)
· Direct and oversee repair or inspection procedures utilizing the latest electronic communication, references and documentation technologies.
· Recognize, Predict and document potential failures and future outage recommendations
· Working knowledge of prints/print reading, such as manufacturing drawings, P&IDs and schematic drawings
· Participate as a Service Team member dedicated to Safety metrics.
· Pre-outage planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures
· Lead execution and oversight of projects under the TFA’s core competency
· Execute project management and technical leader duties. Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues
· Perform other duties as assigned
· Support business needs when not on field assignment
· Willingness and ability to travel as required by field assignments
· Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
Required Qualifications
· Technical/University degree and 5 years of qualifying experience OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Field Services role
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas or power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance or power plant equipment installation/commissioning
· 5 years of demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required
· Meet core competency Level IV skill requirements
Desired Characteristics:
· Expert Level. Able to act as a senior FieldCore rep on any outage for the unit qualified. Acts as project manager and mentor on complex projects. Demonstrates mentor and team lead skills.
· Experience and training on GE, Alstom, Siemens or other OEM equipment is preferred
· Good attitude to manage relationships with customers, concerning technical and contractual aspects.
· Follow up all quality aspects according GE QA manual and procedures.
· Working knowledge and application of EHS rules.
· Effective communication to HQs, through company e-tools
· Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
· Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
· Good interpersonal and organizational skills
· Strong computer skills
· Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
· Good organizational, project management, oral/written communication, interpersonal/leadership skills
· Good business acumen and ability to sell GE products to the customer
