Job Description:

The IT Advisor role in Shell is a key interface between the IT organization and the business, serving as a trusted business partner with an IT lens. The role focuses on delivering bottom line value to the business through implementation of innovative, new IT solutions and harvesting existing IT assets to enable the achievement of the business strategy, value drivers and KPIs.

This Houston based IT Advisor role is part of the Global Deepwater IT Business Interface team, with members in Houston, New Orleans, and Brazil. The teams in New Orleans and Brazil handle proximate needs of the Deepwater assets and the Houston team is responsible for central functions or activities that span across Deepwater globally.

General activities include working closely with IT and business stakeholders (F2F and virtual) at various levels to manage IT opportunities, create business cases for IT opportunities and ensuring these opportunities are aligned with the broader IT and business strategies. This role will also support team operations, improving ways of working across Deepwater IT, team communications and coordinating team meetings.

The focus areas for this role will include:


Opportunity framing and business case development for IT opportunities
Stakeholder Management
Shaping of business demand for IT
Driving and tracking business value from IT solutions
Team operations/ways of working/Engagements with the extended team

Requirements:


Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor's Degree. Degree related to Information Technology or Engineering preferred.
Minimum six (6) years' experience in corporate IT.
The interest and ability to understand business strategy, value drivers, processes and challenges and to use this to identify opportunities for IT to drive greater business value.
A good understanding of technology deployments in the market and their relevance to driving business value for their business area.
Strong business analysis skills and the ability to shape opportunities into project proposals.
Good communication and influencing skills and a collaborative approach for use in engaging with both business and IT stakeholders.
Previous experience identifying and maturing business IT opportunities.
Experience successfully operating in a large global matrix organization.
Ability to effectively operate with remote colleagues and stakeholders.
Experience in Oil and Gas industry is a plus.
Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
