If you’re a Reservoir Engineer with experience in production forecasting, data processing and problem solving, then this role is a chance for you to develop your technical skills whilst working for an industry leader.
What’s the role?
The Reservoir Engineer will contribute in the field of Reservoir Engineering and will sit within the Development Planning and Hydrocarbon Maturation team. You will apply reservoir engineering expertise in the delivery of production forecasts for a range of new development and brownfield projects.
Some of the key deliverables and responsibilities for this role are as follows:
Deliver full-field production forecasts for Shell Australia’s East Coast Assets.
Process and analyse life-of-field forecasts for a coal seam gas field with more than 3000 wells.
Optimisation of new greenfield and brownfield projects through collaboration with subsurface, engineering, operations, commercial and economics teams.
Provide production forecasts and volume estimates for Shell’s annual business planning and reserves reporting processes.
Present completed analysis at peer reviews and functional reviews as part of Shell’s value assurance framework and opportunity realisation process.

Requirements:
What we need from you
A tertiary qualification (Bachelor or higher degree) in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, or other technical related discipline; a post-graduate degree in Petroleum Engineering is an advantage.
Strong technical skills in reservoir simulation and modelling techniques, production forecasting, reserves assessments and development planning; experience with Eclipse preferred.
Experience in the development and reservoir engineering aspects of Coal Seam Gas fields.
Sound problem-solving skills and a track record of being solution driven including working with and developing custom tools required for post-processing of large datasets.
Strong experience and knowledge in Python coding and VBA scripting skills is essential for the position.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate complex data processing skills through Python coding, VBA scripting, and data analysis/visualisation using Spotfire or similar.
In addition, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate how they have solved new data processing problems through delivery of new custom tools with appropriate quality control to ensure robust products.
