Job Description:

This Staff Production Engineering position will be part of a Wells Reservoir and Facility Management Team (WRFM) supporting a Gulf of Mexico production asset. The Staff Production Engineer supports well/reservoir surveillance and brownfield development activities for the asset to optimize well production performance/recovery, manage well integrity, as well as to identify well intervention opportunities.
What is the role
Well Integrity Management – Ownership of well integrity including annulus pressure management and ensuring functionality of safety critical components.
Well Surveillance – Monitoring well performance using pressure, temperature, and other real-time data and use of this data in diagnostics of production and integrity issues
Well Operation – Unload and ramp up wells and determine the safe and optimal well operating limits aligned with internal guidelines and an understanding of the well design limitations, fluid constraints, etc.
Well Testing – Responsible for frequency, strategy, and quality verification of well testing for hydrocarbon allocation process
Forecasting – Ownership of short and medium-term forecasting to drive asset performance
Modeling - Develop and manage well Prosper models and system models for opportunity identification and optimization
Production Operations – Provide critical and at times urgent engineering technical support for production operations as needed
Focal point for execution of the Production Engineering Proactive Technical Monitoring Plan
Work collaboratively with production operations, reservoir engineering, production chemistry, subsea engineering, process engineering, geophysics, production geology, and petrophysics to identify opportunities, threats and uncertainties, and lead or support initiatives to realize opportunities, mitigate threats, and reduce uncertainties
Work linkages between WRFM, new well delivery, and field development planning to ensure short/medium term vision is aligned with long-term expectations
Work with the GoM Technical Authorities to properly meet requirements of internal process and assurance process.
Bring a learner’s mindset and support initiatives to promote a safe, ethical, and inclusive workplace
Special Challenges Include
Among other challenges, varying fluid compositions and well designs, recovery requiring artificial lift (ESP’s) and Enhance Oil Recovery (Waterflood), and a complex subsea gathering system all lead to complex problems and ultimately a rich WRFM funnel of opportunities and threats. This requires the ability to carry multiple simultaneous projects and managing competing priorities.
Support establishing and maintaining good working relationships with internal stakeholders, co-owners, and government regulatory agencies.
Identification and implementation of best practices and opportunities to streamline ways of working, including process improvement
Team and stakeholders are spread across different physical locations, requiring in-person and virtual collaboration
Dimensions
This Production Engineering position will be part of a WRFM team supporting the Perdido Asset in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Primary support will focus on WRFM aspects of subsurface: well surveillance and proactive technical monitoring, well modeling, and forecasting production over short and medium time horizons. This role will have a primary position in WRFM practice table reviews, Reserves cycle, and Business Planning. As part of the Perdido Development Team, opportunity will exist to provide Production Engineering support to Well Delivery and Subsurface Studies on an as-needed basis. HSSE responsibilities include, but are not limited to, well integrity management, provision of Subsurface DEPs in support of well intervention, and real-time operations monitoring.35 subsea well count via multiple fields tied back to asset
Brownfield production up to 100,000 BOED TG
High-rate producers including 15000 BLPD
Artificial Lift through subsea caisson ESPs
Enhanced Oil Recovery via waterflood
What we need from you
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
BS Degree in related technical field
10 years of experience in Petroleum Engineering related activities
Demonstrated skill in Production Engineering including surveillance, well integrity, well operating envelopes, well stimulation, well testing, well restoration, system optimization, artificial lift, inflow/outflow modeling, and production forecasting
Experience in Deepwater with exposure to surveillance and development of subsea production and/or waterflood operations will be an advantage
Ability to provide technical coaching for less experienced staff a requirement
Knowledge of business planning activities, general Reserve process and Field Development Plans
Commitment to HSSE, ethics, and DEI and familiarity with HSSE aspects in major projects and deep-water environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work well in a diverse, multidisciplinary team environment using virtual and in-person collaboration
Must be able to respond to emergency calls as needed and work extended hours as appropriate. Offsite and field travel required
Able to travel for work, pending local restrictions
